Description

Are you passionate about additive manufacturing and eager to support innovative teaching while gaining hands-on research experience? We are looking for a motivated student assistant to support our "Advanced Design Methods for Additive Manufacturing" course as well as our research activities at the Chair of Materials Engineering of Additive Manufacturing 

Your Responsibilities

  • Support during three nTop workshop sessions by assisting students with software-related questions and advanced design workflows.
  • Help students develop innovative design concepts for additive manufacturing during workshops and the Design Challenge Week.
  • Prepare metallographic specimens, including cutting, embedding, grinding, polishing, and documentation.
  • Sieve and prepare metal powders for additive manufacturing experiments.
  • Assist with general laboratory and research activities related to metal additive manufacturing (powder bed fusion).

Requirements

Your Profile

Ideally, you have:

  • Previous experience with the software nTop or a strong interest in learning advanced design methods for additive manufacturing.
  • Experience in additive manufacturing, preferably metal AM.
  • Practical knowledge of metallography or materials characterization.
  • A structured and independent working style.
  • Strong communication skills and you enjoy supporting fellow students.
  • Good English and German language skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with prior experience in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:

  • nTop
  • Additive Manufacturing (especially metal AM)
  • Metallography
  • Topology optimization or lattice design
