Description

Ausgangssituation

Background

With the increasing electrification of construction machinery, new requirements arise for construction scheduling: limited state of charge, charging time, and limited charging infrastructure directly couple a machine's availability to its energy state. Related research fields — resource-constrained project scheduling (RCPSP), electric vehicle routing with charging, and battery-aware scheduling of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) — already offer mature formulations for this. However, construction scheduling research still lacks a comparable integration of task and charging scheduling.

Objective

The objective of this thesis is to compare the aforementioned related optimization formulations with respect to their representation of precedence relations, machine assignment, state of charge, and charging decisions, based on a structured literature review, and to derive a construction-oriented problem formulation for the deployment and charging scheduling of battery-electric construction machinery. The focus is not on a full algorithmic solution, but on establishing the conceptual and mathematical foundation for a new, construction-specific formulation.
