Beschreibung

Fraunhofer IGCV is the first Fraunhofer institute for production engineering in Bavaria. We are shaping the path towards the future of efficient engineering, connected production and intelligent multi-material solutions to ensure the sustainable competitiveness of Germany and Europe. In cooperation with leading companies from various industries - including automotive, battery cell production and metalworking -we are currently researching solutions for collaborative factory planning. Within the Digital Factory Planning department, we are offering a thesis position at the earliest possible date on the topic “Feasibility Study on Collaborative Brownfield Factory Planning Using Point Clouds and VR.”

 

What you will do

• Plan and conduct workshops to identify a suitable use case or factory area at a brownfield site of a manufacturing company
• Implement, in prototype form, the methods developed in the CoLa research project for this use case.
• Evaluate the technical feasibility, identify limitations and derive recommendations for action

Voraussetzungen

What you bring

• Studies in engineering, computer science or economics
• Initial experience in factory planning or modeling tools is desirable
• Proficient English, both written and spoken
• A reliable and independent way of working

The supervision period for the thesis is designed for up to six months. If the results are sufficiently strong, you may have the opportunity to contribute to a scientific publication. Opportunities for paid employment as a student research assistant beyond the thesis supervision can be discussed if you are interested.
