Within the EfaSim project, a microscopic traffic simulation is coupled bidirectionally with an Unreal Engine visualisation so volunteer fire brigades and THW units can train emergency runs in realistic virtual environments — but the emergency vehicle itself is still represented by generic vehicle dynamics. Since fire service vehicles differ fundamentally from passenger cars in mass, centre of gravity height and response delay, this thesis records their real driving behaviour in a dedicated driving test with the fire brigades of Pfaffenhofen/Regensburg, in both full and empty tank configuration, using a synchronised measurement chain of 6-axis IMU, GNSS, and maybe other sensors. From this data a simplified, real-time capable model is identified and the resulting parameters are applied on both sides of the simulation: as a physics-based ego vehicle in Unreal Engine (Chaos Vehicle) and as a parameterised vehicle type in the traffic simulation, linked through the real-time communication interface.

Voraussetzungen
  • Programming skills in Python (experience with C++ or Unreal Engine is a plus).

  • Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics and measurement technology.

  • Willingness to take part in on-site driving tests together with the fire brigades.
