Beschreibung

A complete and coherent definition of the contributions
of and interfaces between stakeholders, as well as of all
operational processes is essential to designing and run-
ning an airport terminal and achieve operational excel-
lency. An initial Concept of Operations (ConOps) gives a
first, schematic overview of this operational landscape
and serves as reference for the basis of design of a new
terminal project.
The initial ConOps captures client requirements, trans-
lates these into operational principles, and outlines the
stakeholder landscape as well as the interactions be-
tween and the steering of stakeholders. It further de-
fines the basic requirements of all operational key pro-
cesses, such as passenger or staff flows, security, ICT,
and baggage. As a result, first estimations of staff, area,
and equipment requirements can be made, and poten-
tial operational bottlenecks be identified.
Thereby, core stakeholders and processes are usually
similar among different airports, despite potentially di-
verse operational settings, airport sizes, or airport net-
work functions. Drafting the initial ConOps framework
through AI support thus saves company resources and
enables a more thorough tailoring of the final docu-
ment to specific customer needs. To this end, this thesis
aims to identify an AI tool ready for that task and usable
for the work with confidential client data according to
internal regulation. Work packages include the setting
up of a database of completed ConOps projects to teach
the AI tool on defining a suitable framework and level
of content. The further derivation of a concise workflow
shall enable a thorough quality control of the resulting
framework document and the repeatable use of the AI
tool for future projects.

Voraussetzungen

We search for a committed student (m/f/d) in the fields
of Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Informatics,
Management and Technology, or similar. Good
knowledge in AI computing and information manage-
ment is required, knowledge in airport operations is
beneficial. Furthermore, an independent way of work-
ing and structuring work as well as a proactive, regular
exchange with the supervisors is expected.
