Initial situation

Using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to plan tool paths during industrial production is common practice. In addition to important measured variables such as surface roughness, process variables such as the process forces that occur play a decisive role when considering process stability and assessing the resulting production quality. Particularly in the case of complex hybrid process chains, such as the production of additive components (WAAM) and their machining post-processing, there is great potential with regard to the application of computer-aided manufacturing through the consideration of process forces.

Thesis aim

As part of this work, research is first carried out focusing on models for process force calculation. The aim is to set up and validate a functional CAM-based process force simulation.
