Beschreibung

Situation:

The redesign of street spaces is preceded by the early and active participation of those affected. However, a central problem in this phase of involvement is that many citizens cannot adequately assess the planned structural changes and their potential impact on their everyday lives. This makes it difficult to form an opinion and reduces the quality of the feedback.

To counteract this deficit, a virtual 3D environment is to be developed that enables those involved to experience the planned redesign visually and spatially. With the help of modern visualization technologies, selected perspectives are to be made accessible in a 360° view so that citizens can experience the effects of the planning in a realistic way.

Project:

The aim of the project is to develop a realistic virtual environment of a planned street redesign. The 3D environment is to be created at three predefined locations, which will present the central changes in a particularly vivid way. Citizens will be given the opportunity to explore 360° views of the planned redesign using a smartphone or other device. This will enable high-quality participation that supports decision-making processes in urban planning.

Technical approach:

  • 3D modeling: The virtual, static environment is created using Blender or similar.
  • Data integration: Existing data sources are used, including, for example, the road layout from MathWorks RoadRunner and building bases from the geodata service. For new elements, a budget for digital assets is also available.
  • Visualization: Export of the created 3D perspectives as 360° views and provision for platforms such as Google Photos.
