Description

As part of an innovative project to automate the cleaning process of cast parts, a robot-assisted system is being developed and tested in combination with an optical motion capture system. The goal is to improve the manual teach-in process through optical tracking of motion sequences, thereby significantly increasing the efficiency and repeatability of the cleaning operation.

To ensure the successful implementation of this approach, it is essential to evaluate the developed functions in a practical setting. The focus of the thesis will therefore include:

  • Performing practical tests to assess the optical teach-in method
  • Conducting a quantitative analysis of teach-in accuracy and process times
  • Identifying optimization potential to improve the stability and efficiency of the process

Requirements
  • Students with backgrounds of robotics, computer science, engineering or similar.
  • programming skills, preferably Python, MatLab, C++
  • Creativity and motivation for innovative solution ideas

What you can expect:

  • Participation in research topics with industrial relevance
  • Exciting and varied activities at Fraunhofer IGCV
  • Working language: English/ German
