The African agricultural sector is in the process of entering international food value chains. However, scattered farming communities suffer from diverse and specific circumstances that make transportation to, and participation in value chains difficult. Across Africa, local startups have recently started to digitalize the transport sector and increase its efficiency to ultimately reduce price per kilometer. With our research, we develop online tools to help said transport
operators to assess demand structures remotely and guide them to identify the most promising area for their services. We work on a one-stop-tool to assess and cluster demand, localize vehicle stops and optimal routing to understand the economic potential.
 

Voraussetzungen

Your Challenge

  • Design and implement new product features from start to finish in both backend and frontend
  • Enhance user experience and add value by improving the frontend
  • Create prototypes using third-party interfaces/external data and test potential new features
  • Participate in the development and improvement of optimizations for the allocation of service points or routing strategies

Your Profile:

  • Computer science student (or similar) who has to carry out an interdisciplinary project or application project
  • Experienced in sofware and/or data engineering
  • Highly reliable, eager to learn and able to independelty structure their work
  • Ability to write clear, well-structured and tested code

Tech Stack:

  • First experience with app/frontend development in Flutter 
  • Foundational knowledge in object-oriented programming with Python or Go
  • Basic understanding of SQL databases
  • Experience in application deployment with Docker, and writing infrastructure as code in Terraform is a plus
